Yellowstone spin-offs bring dutton siblings together again

Paramount's Yellowstone franchise continues to expand with two spin-offs, Marshals and Dutton Ranch, bringing viewers closer to the Dutton family's legacy.

Spinning a larger tale

Marshals, starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, has been a ratings success for CBS despite poor reviews from critics. In contrast, Dutton Ranch, starring Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, looks to directly continue Yellowstone's tone with Taylor Sheridan writing the series.

According to Marshals showrunner Spencer Hudnut, the idea for spin-offs emerged before the flagship series' controversial finale in December 2024. 101 Studios CEO David Glasser initially asked Hudnut if he'd prefer a show focused on Kayce or Beth Dutton. Hudnut replied,
