From high-slung to triple-layered: the rules have changed
Gone are the days of adhering to a strict waistline. Instead, stylists like Caitlin Burke are advocating for a more fluid approach. “Jewelry, bags and shoes get all the love, but a statement belt can really make a look,” she explains, citing her recent styling of Zooey Deschanel with a Saint Laurent belt. The trend is leaning heavily into oversized buckles, often worn low-slung for a decidedly modern, almost Cumberbund-esque silhouette. Matthieu Blazy at Chanel echoed this sentiment, showcasing colorful statement belts alongside a coveted red croc iteration.
A spectrum of styles
The versatility is staggering. Miu Miu presented everything from woven wonders wrapped around the waist to tiny buckled options traversing the neck and wrists. Vogue’s Favorite Statement Belts include Khaite Keefe belts at $980, Free People WeHo hip belts for $98, and A. Emery’s braided belts ranging from $170 to $250. Vintage belts, particularly those with intricate buckles or unique metalwork, are also experiencing a resurgence, championed by stylist Ib Abdel Nasser, who recently paired a Rodarte brass rose chain belt with Lili Reinhart’s Ralph Lauren fall show ensemble.
