A patchwork of past inspirations

Originally, Hadid planned to pay homage to Miu Miu's 2011 spring collection with floral and flame embroidery. However, upon trying on the design, she found the patchwork didn't sit quite right. Undeterred, she dove deeper into Miu Miu's archives and landed on the 1998 spring collection for its sheer, skin-baring quality.

Combining the two, Hadid and the Miu Miu design team hand-placed the 2011-inspired patches onto the model's body in a way that felt celebratory, rather than restrictive. 'We all sat in a hotel room two days ago, literally, and scotch taped the patches onto me in a way that felt celebratory,' Hadid explained.

The result is a look that is at once nostalgic and innovative, built on the curves of Hadid's body rather than a traditional dress form. 'The body is the canvas,' she said.

On the beauty front, Hadid opted for a softer, more romantic aesthetic, highlighting Maybelline New York's Cloudtopia Cheek Matte Mousse Blush. 'It's like a girl running out of a romantic, foggy, moonlit garden where she just had an amazing night with a love of her life,' she described.
