Kylie jenner rebrands khy: a luxe, la-fueled reinvention

Kylie Jenner is shaking up her Fashion label, Khy, with a major overhaul focused on a more refined aesthetic and a deeper connection to her LA roots. Forget the sporadic drops and celebrity collaborations – this is a focused, elevated strategy.

Following a flurry of diamante-dusted posts at Coachella weekend two, Jenner’s team has been quietly rebuilding Khy from the ground up. The initial strategy, centered around a rotating roster of designers like Namilia and Frankie’s Bikinis, is being replaced with a cohesive, long-term vision.

“The starting point was, what is Khy in a physical place?” Jenner explains, emphasizing the brand’s shift away from fleeting trends. “And there was nothing that came to the top of my head.” This realization sparked a year-long process of redefining Khy’s design language, incorporating a new creative team and a commitment to consistent quality.

Now, the brand is poised to launch a new collection on April 28th, featuring a curated selection of baby tees, baggy jeans, and utility jackets—all heavily influenced by the 90s street style Jenner adores. The collection’s mood board is a clear testament to this, showcasing oversized silhouettes and relaxed fits.

But this isn’t just about aesthetics. Jenner is prioritizing production, relocating the majority of Khy’s denim manufacturing to Los Angeles—a move she’s particularly proud of. “We really wanted to take our denim and make it even better, all based out of LA, which I’m super proud of,” she states. The brand’s embellished belts, sourced from vintage stores and hand-embellished in LA, further cement this commitment to local craftsmanship.

Unlike the early days, when pricing remained relatively low, the new collection will range from $70 to $470, reflecting a deliberate effort to elevate the brand’s offerings. Jenner’s experience with Kylie Cosmetics, where she skillfully capitalized on her influence, undoubtedly informs this approach.

Throughout the development process, Jenner has leaned heavily on her team and, crucially, her friends – including Anastasia Karanikolaou – for feedback. A key moment came when Karanikolaou pointed out that the denim didn’t sit correctly, leading to adjustments in production. The brand has also tested pieces on a diverse range of body types to ensure a wider appeal, learning from the challenges faced with sizing inconsistencies in previous collaborations.

This relaunch represents a significant evolution for Khy, moving beyond fleeting trends and embracing a more permanent, LA-centric identity. With a renewed focus on fit, quality, and a cinematic approach to photography, Jenner is betting that Khy’s next chapter will be its most successful yet. She's determined to build a brand that truly resonates with her customer base, a lesson learned from her successes – and occasional missteps – with Kylie Cosmetics.
