Athena calderone's furniture debut: assembler i at the future perfect

Renowned tastemaker Athena Calderone, the creative force behind lifestyle platform EyeSwoon and acclaimed interior design practice, has launched her first furniture collection, Assembler I, exclusively at The Future Perfect in New York. This marks a bold new chapter for the multi-talented designer.

Assembler i: a study in materiality and proportion

Drawing inspiration from French Art Deco, the 14-piece suite showcases Calderone's mastery of proportion and materiality. High-gloss woods, lacquers, parchment, and nickel accents harmonize to evoke a refined past reimagined for the present.

Each piece rewards close attention, with screens and lampshades crafted from vegetable-based parchment Calderone discovered on a shopping trip to Kyoto. This same material inspired her Cadence wallpaper collection with Calico. The sinuously carved Courbe side table recalls the hand of a sculptor, while a Prelle brocade adorns the seat of a dining chair, the only splash of color in an otherwise subdued palette.

Together, the collection presents a cohesive argument: that good design is not mere ornamentation, but a thoughtful approach to how we live.
