Former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards has launched a stinging attack on Channel 5's new drama series 'Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards', which depicts his fall from grace after he was imprisoned for possessing indecent images of children.

Edwards claims channel 5 ignored his truth

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Edwards accused Channel 5 of making no effort to verify the accuracy of the show's narrative before production, only reaching out to him for a response after the drama was completed. He also criticized the network for refusing to disclose whether the individuals making allegations against him were paid for their contributions.

Edwards has pleaded guilty to three offenses of making indecent images of children and was sentenced in 2024. He maintains that mental illness, rather than criminal intent, contributed to his actions.

A spokesperson for Channel 5 defended the production, stating that it is based on extensive interviews, text exchanges, and court reporting. The network claimed to have presented Edwards' solicitors with allegations six weeks prior to airing.

Edwards vowed to share his own account of the events, opening up about his 25-year struggle with mental illness.
