Lilis instant body peel treatment: a korean-inspired exfoliator for smooth, hydrated skin
In a world where self-care has become an essential part of our daily routines, exfoliation plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Enter Lilis, a Korean-inspired body-care brand that has revolutionized the way we approach exfoliation with its innovative Instant Body Peel Treatment.
Lilis' journey to revolutionize body exfoliation
Founded by Helen Shin, Lilis is the result of Shin's personal struggle with her mother's atopic dermatitis. Shin's entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Korean skincare led her to create a brand that honors traditional Korean bathing rituals while offering a gentler, more sophisticated approach to exfoliation.
The result is a two-product line centered around the Instant Body Peel Treatment and the Firming Serum. The Instant Peel, as it's affectionately known, is a clinically-tested, gommage-style peeling gel rooted in Korean skincare practices.

How lilis instant body peel treatment works
Applying the gel to dry skin, you watch it activate on contact, visibly pilling as it binds to dead skin cells. This process, known as gommage action, lifts away dead cells without harsh abrasives or friction. Key ingredients like arbutin, bakuchiol, artemisia princeps extract, and asiaticoside work in harmony to not only exfoliate but also brighten, soothe, and nourish the skin.
Lead aesthetician Amity Murray at Hotel Chelsea's spa, where Lilis is incorporated into select treatments, describes the Instant Peel as a light chemical exfoliating gel that leaves skin looking more even and bright, with fewer ingrown hairs.

A personal experience with lilis instant body peel treatment
For someone with extremely dry skin, exfoliation is a savior. I've cycled through various exfoliating soaps, gloves, and dry brushes, but Lilis is the only salve I covet that relies purely on chemical exfoliation. My routine cadence is two to three times a week, typically on 'everything shower' days when I can really enjoy the process.
Applying it in the shower so the dead skin has somewhere to go, I target elbows and knees, which never get enough attention. The fragrance-free version is great for sensitive skin types, and the pump is perfect for dispensing the right amount of product. No matter how many repeat uses, the skin left behind is soft, hydrated, and visibly more even. After rinsing, I'll reach for the Firming Serum or whatever else I'm in the mood for – serum, lotion, butter, oil, sometimes all of the above. Everything sinks in so much easier after.
Lilis has become one of those rare products I've never found a dupe for, and at this point, I've stopped looking.
